Vatsala Goel is a cinematographer splitting time between LA, San Francisco and Mumbai. She brings ten years experience filming narrative fiction, documentaries and experimental cinema. She is intrigued by the playful ways light lends itself to cinematic storytelling. Her keen interest in fine art and photographic printmaking assist in an interdisciplinary approach to teaching.
Vatsala’s recent clients include Netflix, Tribeca Studios, 23andme, Salesforce and Hollister. Her films have been exhibited at Tribeca, Cinequest, Mill Valley, Clermont Ferrand and MAMI film festivals.
Previously she has taught cinematography at the School of Cinema, SFSU and mentored at First Exposures, a photography program for underserved Bay Area youth.
She holds an M.F.A. in Cinematography from the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India, and a B.A. Honours in English Literature from Calcutta University.
