Michael Naify is an MFA graduate of SFAI who was born in San Francisco and comes out of a film and cable businesses background. In addition to English, he speaks Italian and Portuguese. In 1997 he founded Cosac and Naify Editions which, over twenty years, became Brazil’s largest art publisher of over 1,200 titles distinguished for its cutting edge publications and iconic cultural status.
In addition to his educational background in art, Michael has an MBA from University of San Francisco and has devoted a great deal of his varied talents to the restoration of historically significant Florentine Belles-Artes Renaissance properties. These include Medici and Strozzi palazzos and the restoration of more than 140,000 square feet in and around the city of Florence for both noncommercial and commercial purposes. He continues these activities today.
Michael has been a board member on both educational and for-profit institutions. He has served as such for the International School of Florence, the University Art Museum of UC Berkeley, Todd-AO Corporation and now, SFAI.
