Eventbrite - SFAI Utopian Benches Closing Reception + Screening » Rock My Religion

Equal parts conceptual art collage, music video, and religious revival, Rock My Religion is a legendary document of underground rock music in the early 80's. Visual artist Dan Graham positions rock ‘n’ roll music and performance as having evolved out of religious worship, tracing a line back through the Shakers and other groups. Musician Patti Smith is the primary protagonist, and rock legends Jim Morrison, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Eddie Cochran make appearances. The screening is presented on Beta SP videocassette.
