San Francisco Art Institute
800 Chestnut Street
Dr. Randy Auxier, a professor of philosophy at Southern Illinois University, is the editor-in-chief of The Library of Living Philosophers. Beginning with a lecture in the SFAI Lecture Hall, Auxier will discuss the work of American philosopher Josiah Royce, focusing on Royce’s philosophy of community in the context of the North American utopian movements of the 19th century. A lively conversation on the Utopian Benches installation in the Walter and McBean Galleries will follow.
The event is co-presented by the Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness (PCC) Forum, an interdisciplinary lecture series at California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) that celebrates the work of the Institute's professors and visiting scholars.
