Post-Baccalaureate Certificate

The Post-Baccalaureate (PB) Certificate program is a one-year, full-time course of study that gives artists the opportunity to strengthen creative work through studio practice and critical engagement.

The program is ideally suited for artists looking to develop their body of work for admission to a graduate MFA program, and positions artists for future success by providing a rigorous yet supportive environment.

The studio is the heart of the Post-Baccalaureate program, and artists have access to individual and shared spaces in SFAI’s Graduate Center, as well as to extensive facilities and resources at the historic Chestnut Street campus. Immersed in a tight-knit community of artists who are challenging the boundaries of contemporary art, Post-Baccalaureate students have the opportunity to experiment within a flexible framework, and the structure of the program can be personalized based on individual artistic and career goals. Post-Baccalaureate students have gone on to study and excel in the nation’s most prestigious MFA programs, including SFAI, and to receive grants, fellowships, residencies, and other funded opportunities from institutions around the world

Students may apply directly to the Post-Baccalaureate program; additionally, applicants to the MFA program are automatically considered for the Post-Baccalaureate program if their application is not accepted for the MFA.
