Post-Baccalaureate Certificate

The Post-Baccalaureate (PB) Certificate program is a one-year, full-time course of study that gives artists the opportunity to strengthen their creative work in an intensive environment of studio practice and critical engagement.

The program is ideally suited for students who are looking to prepare their work for admission to a graduate MFA program. Students spend a year of intensive work in their studios at the Graduate Center in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood, either focusing on a specific area of inquiry or experimenting with a variety of media and concepts. With a combination of critique and independent tutorials with faculty, as well as upper-division coursework in the undergraduate program, the Post-Baccalaureate curriculum provides the ideal balance of conceptual and technical advancement. Artists in this program have gone on to study in the nation’s most competitive MFA programs.

Students may apply directly to the Post-Baccalaureate program; additionally, applicants to the MFA program are automatically considered for the Post-Baccalaureate program if their application is not accepted for the MFA.
