(no session November 27)
7:30–10:30 pm | Studio 117 | $480

#PA1012
Prerequisite: Some painting experience is recommended but not required.

This course examines the history of Western portraiture through oil painting. Brief slide lectures and guest artist presentations will help students learn various techniques while fostering an understanding of their own place in the contemporary narrative. Assignments will include a self-portrait, a hybridization project, and live-model painting.

“The course—and Robert—has re-ignited the creative spirit in me that lay dormant for a long time, mainly because of fear of the unknown (materials, techniques, etc.). This course has equipped me with all the tools and techniques to get started on this exciting journey. Robert has provided me with the confidence—and the motivation—to keep building on these new skills.” –Introduction to Oil Painting student, 2013
