Wherever We Go / Ovunque andiamo
Art, Identity, Cultures in Transit
An open field for comparisons and a mise-en-scène of crucial contemporary questions, Wherever We Go was curated by Hou Hanru and Gabi Scardi and first premiered in October 2006 at the Spazio Oberdan in Milan. The catalogue contains color photographs and biographies of the 23 artists in the exhibition, including Latifa Echakhch, Ni Haifeng, Huang Yong-Ping, Mella Jaarsma, Koo Jeong-A, Tsuyoshi Ozawa, Nari Ward, Elena Nemkova, and Pascale Marthine Tayou. Essays by Hou Hanru, Gabi Scardi, Gilane Tawadros, Pier Luigi Tazzi, and Elvan Zabunyan.

Sarkis: Alive and After
This bilingual catalogue documents the first major exhibition in the US of noted French-Armenian artist Sarkis, and includes recent work in video, installation, photography, watercolor, and neon. This exhibition marks the curatorial debut of Hou Hanru as Director of Exhibitions and Public Programs at SFAI. seamarks / steve roden
In seamarks, Roden performs a type of translation on the text Amers, written by the French author Saint-John Perse. Roden converts letters and words from Perse’s text into numbers, measurements, and corresponding colors. He has used the text as a generative tool for a new body of work, including new paintings, sculptures, drawings, a sound work, and an animated film. Project descriptions by Roden.

This exhibition catalogue, designed in homage to the classic Thomas Guides, reveals some of the complexities inherent in the multiple definitions of topographies found in contemporary art. The Third Time I Saw Phyllis She Exploded / Richard Berger
For over thirty years, Richard Berger has dedicated himself to making three-and four-dimensional works. Initially, he did this by interrogating the supposedly normal and necessary relationship between the mass and volume of an object in a way that simultaneously confirmed and challenged the very meaning of physical embodiment. Live Forever Act One / Lee Bul
One of the most prominent artists among Asia’s emerging generation, Lee has pursued a highly interdisciplinary practice, from her early performances to sculpture and drawing, to her more recent karaoke projects. The first of two volumes, Live Forever Act One documents the production of Lee’s video trilogy, Amateurs+Anthem+Live Forever, and the prototyping of Lee’s karaoke pod sculptures.
