JD Beltran

New Genres

JD Beltran’s work in film, painting, photography, and text bridges the narrative and abstract while investigating the manner in which materials convey stories.  She was awarded the Artadia Grant and Skowhegan Residency, and has exhibited internationally, including at the Walker Art Center, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the 2006 and 2008 01SJ New Media Biennials. In 2009, the Public Art Network recognized her artwork as one of the most outstanding public artworks in the United States, and in 2010 her artwork was recognized as one of the top international interactive media designs by ID Magazine. She is also Interim Director of the San Francisco Arts Commission.
