Image Resources

An online digital image library covering the areas of art, architecture, the humanities, and social sciences. ARTstor is available to all current students and faculty, but off-campus access requires registering for an account through the library’s Media Department.

Faculty accounts also allow the creation of folders and stored images. Faculty may upload copies of their own images to add to their ARTstor collections.

To register for ARTstor, please email Media Librarian Charles Stephanian at from your primary email address. Students must use their SFAI email addresses to register.

Download an information sheet about ARTstore here. The library’s Media Department is also happy to provide new ARTstor users with a quick tutorial on searching, saving images, and assembling presentations in either PowerPoint or ARTstor’s own offline presentation viewer, OIV.

Our slide library consists of more than 100,000 slides documenting work in all media, as well as work by current faculty. Slide projectors are available for checkout through the AV checkout booth. Slides circulate to faculty and graduate students for two weeks, and may be borrowed by undergraduates on the day they plan to use them.

Digital Image Requests

Faculty may request that digital images be created from slides or printed material for images not available from ARTstor or another readily available online source. Digital image requests should be made to the Media Librarian at least one week in advance of the date needed.
