POINT BREAK is a 1991 film from SFAI alumna and Academy Award-winning director Kathryn Bigelow. It chronicles the investigation of Los Angeles FBI newcomer Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves), with seasoned partner Angelo Pappas (Gary Busey) into a gang of seasonal, surfing, masked bank robbers known as the Ex-Presidents. Going undercover, Utah engrosses himself in the local surf culture, befriending charismatic local legend Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) and falling for local surf-babe Tyler Endicott (Lori Petty), soon thereafter discovering a true passion for the sport and lifestyle of surfing. After facing physical, mental and moral challenges, Utah must make tough decisions regarding loyalty, honesty and duty to break open the case and take down the Ex-Presidents.
