CRUDO: The Weight of the Hand in the Dirt
Sunday, February 16 - Saturday, March 1, 2014
2565 Third Street (between 22nd and 23rd Streets)
San Francisco,
CA

The processes of making are experiential in nature, and act both as research and as intuitive mark-making.

Three artists take over the Swell Gallery with large, ephemeral installations. The two- and three-dimensional mixed media works emphasize notions of process, intuition, exploration, and labor. The artists also illustrate the concept of honesty in their dynamic touch, use of organic and raw materials, and embodiment of earthy tones. The word crudo best describes their works.

After dipping, reaching, grabbing, tracing, and waiting, the artists come together in an exhibition of individual and collaborative artworks, forming neutral grounds and huge installations that are organically adapted to the space.
