To continue the celebration of our graduating artists and scholars, SFAI is proud to present a free, public event with renowned art critic Roberta Smith and SFAI President Charles Desmarais.

Join us in celebrating the significant achievements of this year's graduating BFA and MFA students at the Institute’s 134th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 12, at 10 am.

Conceptual artist Hans Winkler and Office Wiederholt will transform SFAI's quad into the View Point Movie Theater and Beer Garden for a two-day film screening and beer drinking event.

Alumni are invited to a special reception at the MFA Graduate Exhibition at the Phoenix Hotel. 

Graduating students in SFAI’s Master’s of Art programs in Exhibition and Museum Studies, History and Theory of Contemporary Art, Urban Studies, and the MA/MFA Dual Degree will present selections of their completed Master’s theses in a day-long public event.

SFAI’s History and Theory of Contemporary Art Department presents Criminal Queers, a film screening and artists’ talk by Eric Stanley and Chris Vargas.

Activating The Medium festival is an internationally recognized showcase for the most innovative and visionary practitioners of sound art.

SFAI presents a program at SFMOMA of works by graduating MFA Film students, offering an introduction to intriguing new filmmakers.
