Since leaving graduate school in 1974 my main studio investigations have manifested through drawing, painting and printmaking, all three being driven by the inherent conceptual aspects of Printmaking. In the studio I am searching for visual evidence not dictated by culture. I am anticipating a condition of ignorance founded only in identifying the experience I am having at the time.

Charles Hobson

Charles Hobson uses monotypes and printmaking variations to construct images for books and works on paper. He has been a faculty member of SFAI since 1990 and his work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the New York Public Library, the Whitney Museum and the National Gallery, among others. Usually following literary or historical themes, his work has covered topics as diverse as famous couples who met in Paris (Parisian Encounters) and Mark Twain’s imaginary diaries of Adam and Eve. His archive has been recently acquired by Stanford University.

Larry Thomas is an accomplished visual artist and has been a visiting scholar at the American Academy in Rome and an artist-in-residence at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program, the Ragdale Foundation, and the Sitka Center for Art & Ecology.

Macy Chadwick

Macy Chadwick publishes artist’s books and limited-edition prints under the imprint In Cahoots Press in Oakland, California. Through her work she addresses themes of memory, personal communication and visual language systems. She is interested in the connection between people: interactions both verbal and non-verbal, shared experiences, and the urge to communicate clearly.
