| The Community Education department welcomes the general public to experience the distinctive learning environment of the San Francisco Art Institute and encourages engagement with faculty, students, and facilities through a wide range of classes, workshops, and special programs. Both inside and outside of the classroom, you will have the opportunity to talk with other students, develop a dialog with facultymany of whom are current or recent graduates of the Art Institutes prestigious Master of Fine Arts programabsorb information on technique and practice, and hone your aesthetic and critical skills. On-campus you will be surrounded by the energy of the students in our degree programs and experience first-hand the work and ideas of the internationally recognized visiting artists who participate in our community through lectures, exhibitions, and commissioned projects.

Adult Community Education (ACE) The Adult Community Education program offers evening and weekend courses every semester in both studio art, including digital media, drawing, film, new genres, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture and art history. These courses cater to the needs of accomplished artists as well as beginners, and provide an opportunity for everyone to be a part of a creative environment. Classes take place on the Art Institute's campus, providing a convenient, and inspirational environment.

Young Artist Program (YAP) The Young Artists Program is a four-week, summer intensive program designed for talented teenage artists between the ages of 14 and 18. The program aims to provide mentorship and instruction, as well as encouraging creativity and self-expression in a supportive environment. The classes introduce a variety of techniques and concepts in drawing, painting, filmmaking, animation, photography, sculpture, and more. Funding is available for scholarships each year. Youth Arts Collaborative (YAC) Youth Arts Collaborative is an innovative program that places Art Institute students, faculty, and visiting artists into community organizations that work with teens to create works of contemporary art. The program expands the artistic vocabulary of Art Institute students so they will be better prepared to enter their communities as effective, creative agents for change and provides arts training for undeserved youth in San Francisco. Some of the collaborative projects are connected to academic classes and some are independent projects that work with visiting artists.
