In this course we will design and produce letterpress printed broadsides, pamphlets, and ephemera. We will explore printmaking techniques and materials that incorporate use of the letterpress, including pressure printing, relief carving, set type, and polymer plates. The class will facilitate a deeper understanding of typography, color mixing, and other design elements by requiring they be physically created and positioned on the page. This course is recommended for those interested in learning various printmaking methods, incorporating text into their creative work, or developing fundamental design skills. No prior letterpress experience necessary.
