Jeremy Stone

Jeremy Stone has worked in the art world for over 30 years. Early in her career, Ms. Stone worked with Anne Kohs & Associates, coordinating research, business management, and curatorial services for their artist clientele, which included Robert Arneson, Manuel Neri, Oliver Jackson, and Brian Wall. In 1982, she opened a gallery of modern and contemporary art in San Francisco, focusing on emerging and mid-career American artists.

After curating 80 exhibitions at the space, Ms. Stone closed the gallery in 1991 to pursue work in arts education. She became executive director of Learning Through Education in the Arts Project (LEAP), which placed artists and architects in curriculum-based residencies in San Francisco public schools, and in that role participated in the Executive Program in Non-Profit Organization Management at USF. Ms. Stone joined the staff of SFAI in 1994, serving as director of career services until 1997, and as a visiting faculty member until 2000. Her current business practice, Business Matters in the Visual Arts, provides advisory services, strategic planning, and appraisal reports for charitable contribution, estate planning, gifting, insurance coverage, litigation support, and tax purposes. She is an accredited Senior Appraiser of Fine Art and member of the American Society of Appraisers.

Ms. Stone has a BS degree in Organizational Behavior from the University of San Francisco, and studied at The Cooper Union School of Art as a painting major. She has served on the board of The Oxbow School and ArtTable, and received the 2008 Award for Service in the Visual Arts from the Northern California Chapter of ArtTable. Ms. Stone is currently serving her third term on the Board of Trustees at SFAI.
