Cynthia Plevin is the director of Bekris Gallery, a San Francisco art gallery that specializes in contemporary African art. Prior to opening Bekris Gallery she was a partner with the trial law firm of Sedgwick LLP. Ms. Plevin served several terms on Sedgwick’s management committee and headed its Employment and Labor Law Group. During her tenure the law firm grew from 35 attorneys to 400. While with Sedgwick, Ms. Plevin wrote and spoke extensively on contemporary legal issues.
Ms. Plevin has worked with organizations including Project Open Hand, where she served as a board member and then board chair, and World Arts West, where she is currently board president. Ms. Plevin was also a member of an International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) mission to Burundi, whose goal was development of a program for rebuilding some of that country’s agricultural infrastructure that was destroyed during years of ethnic violence and civil war.
