Kaitlin Trataris is a multi-media artist living and working in San Francisco. She co-founded and runs R/SF projects, a curatorial project space in downtown San Francisco for raw contemporary work, alternative projects, and offbeat programming from the Bay Area’s emerging talent. Trataris is involved in a number of collaborative projects including, The Dead Alleys (a conceptual punk rock band), A.I.R. (a traveling residency program), and RECESS (an interventionist and performative art collective). In her practice, Kaitlin creates silk screened and sewn fabric soft sculptures of kitchen objects and foods to transform domestic environments into explorable sites that reveal the effects of mass media consumer culture through craft mediums and forms. Trataris received her Master of Fine Arts degree from the San Francisco Art Institute, and her Bachelor of Fine Art degree from San Diego State University. In 2015 she was a recipient of the Murphy and Cadogen Contemporary Art Award.
