Douglas Durkin has been a professional in the field of interior design for over 30 years. Douglas Durkin Design, founded in 2002, is a Bay Area based residential design firm, with a staff of 25, with projects throughout the United States and Europe. The firm’s work has been published widely, including Architectural Digest (listed as a Top 100 firm), Elle Décor and House Beautiful magazines. In addition, the firm has received numerous awards—most recently the Julia Morgan Award from the Northern California Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture, and the SFDC Designer of Distinction Award.
With a passion for the art of interior design and a seasoned knowledge and appreciation for fine antique furnishings, contemporary design, and fine art from all periods, Douglas is known for his romantic approach and skillful eclectic style. He is committed to expressing his client’s individual personalities by engaging with a wide array of artisans, artists, and craftspeople to create spaces that celebrate quality, uniqueness, and the hand made.
Douglas is one of the founders of FOG Design+Art, San Francisco's premier contemporary Art and Design Fair. He continues to serve on FOG's Steering Committee and as the FOG Forum Chair. He also serves as the acting Chair of SFMOMA's Architecture and Design Accessions Committee.
