The Art of the Pixel at SFAI: LG Electronics Sponsors New Media Competition
There is one guaranteed winner from SFAI who will be awarded a $5,000 cash prize and be featured in an LG-organized gala in New York City.
At the gala, an overall First Place winner will be selected and awarded an additional $5,000. The Second Place winner will receive an additional $3,000 and the First and Second Place winners’ schools will receive a $50,000 and $25,000 grant, respectively.
Contestants should create digital artwork to be displayed on these screens. The goal is to create media content that will showcase the new technologies.
LG has already donated an OLED TV and an Ultra HD TV to SFAI, and both will be available to students in the SFAI Café. For more information, see the Contest Kit, provided upon registration. Sample videos are provided on the official contest website at LGusa.com/LGSupportsTheArts.
In addition, one SFAI student has the opportunity to chat live with Emmy and Tony award-winning actor, producer, and director Neil Patrick Harris during an exclusive Google Hangout on Tuesday, July 1 from 3:30–4:15 pm EST.
Participation is limited to one student per school, and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested students should send an email from their SFAI email address to HangoutWithNPH@lg-one.com with their name, school, and three questions that they would like to ask Harris before midnight Friday, June 27.
The Hangout will include two-minute Q&As from all nine schools, allowing each participant to ask a minimum of two pre-approved questions about topics such as Harris’ interest in contemporary art, what inspires him creatively, and his advice to young artists. Additional questions may be asked if time allows.
Registration is open and LG is accepting submissions.
