" There is a collective pride among the faculty at SFAI, a pride in knowing that we are working with the most perceptive, most intelligent, and most insightful students from the global community of aspiring artists. Students who are disciplined and rigorous in their pursuit of excellence. They come to SFAI to learn from working artists, practicing scholars, and perceptive critics: our faculty. "

Ways to Give
SFAI Development Office
800 Chestnut Street
San Francisco, CA 94133
In 2011-2012, 83% of SFAI students benefitted from financial assistance. Your gift will help SFAI recruit and retain outstanding artists, support a student body with diverse ideas and experiences, and keep high quality arts education accessible to talented students of all economic backgrounds.
Through dozens of lectures and exhibitions, as well as City Studio courses for undeserved Bay Area youth, SFAI provided ongoing enrichment and engagement to 25,000 people last year.
As creative practitioners and dedicated mentors to students, SFAI’s faculty need the resources to educate the next generation of vanguard artists. SFAI has committed to hiring at least ten full-time faculty members over the next five years, shaping the Institute’s programs for the coming decades.
With a new roof on the historic 800 Chestnut Street campus, a remodeled photography studio, and a stainability initiative to reduce water and energy usage, SFAI’s facilities now better meet students’ needs and foster their artistic development.
