accessibility services

SFAI recognizes disability and learning differences as important aspects of diversity. The Accessibility Services Office (ASO) ensures that students with ability and learning differences have equal access to the curriculum and school environment at SFAI by providing reasonable accommodations. Some common accommodations include extra time for assignments, a quiet place for exams, and note-takers.

Decisions regarding the accommodations to be provided are made on an individual basis by the Accessibility Specialist.

How to Request Accommodations

Because each student’s situation is unique, the ASO asks that any student who is interested in accommodations arrange to meet with the Accessibility Specialist. Students can contact the ASO at accessibility@sfai.edu or 415-351-3523. Documentation requirements vary by situation. The Accessibility Specialist will discuss documentation with the student during the initial meeting.

Students requesting accommodations must provide verification of disability at least three weeks before the accommodation is needed. Some services or accommodations require considerable review of a student's documentation; therefore, it is important for students to plan ahead.

Students requesting accommodations should complete and submit the ASO Student Registration Form (see below) to the Accessibility Services Office (ASO), either in person or via email.
