Will Rogan is visiting faculty in the New Genres department. Rogan’s work explores a range of ideas and materials using photographs, video, sculpture, and mixed media pieces. He photographs “found situations” in the urban landscape in which everyday materials become sculptural. In one recent exhibit, Rogan based his work around an incident that occurred 50 years ago in Alabama, when a woman was hit by a meteorite. Rogan used the event as a metaphorical springboard to address issues of the day-to-day in the wake of extraordinary circumstances. Rogan received his MFA from the University of California, Berkeley, and shows his work at Jack Hanley Gallery, Los Angeles; Mixture Contemporary, Houston Texas; the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco; and the Bronx Museum, New York. Rogan received the prestigious SECA Award from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and is collected by San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Berkeley Art Museum, and the Oakland Museum of Art.
