HENRIK LEBUHN

Henrik Lebuhn is visiting faculty in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies. He holds a PhD in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin. In 2005 and 2006, he was a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley’s Department of Sociology and Institute for the Study of Social Change (ISSC).

His main research areas include labor; migration and socio-spatial conflicts in global cities; entrepreneurial urban politics; and new urban social movements. His monograph Wem gehört die Stadt? Mikrokonflikte um den öffentlichen Raum in Berlin und Los Angeles (Whose City Is It? Microconflicts over Public Space in Berlin and Los Angeles)—a comparative case study on the privatization of public space in Berlin and LA—is forthcoming in 2008.

Lebuhn is cofounder of the Berlin-based collective Wiener Büro-Kombinat (WBK), coeditor of the journal Prokla, and online editor of linksnet.de. Lebuhn has also collaborated on a number of film projects, which have won several national and international awards and have been screened at festivals in Germany, Japan, and the US.
